La Liga Team of the Week: Two-goal Arda stars alongside Ronaldo

Goal picks out the best performers from a weekend in Spain which saw Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona all triumph

The latest round of Liga action saw Real Madrid go top for the first time this season – albeit for 24 hours – and put Atletico Madrid and Barcelona under pressure. Both the Blaugrana and Diego Simeone’s side responded and all three teams feature in Goal’s Team of the Week.

In goal, we have Levante shot-stopper Keylor Navas, who made an extraordinary number of saves as his side claimed an unlikely 3-2 victory over Champions League-chasing Sevilla in Andalusia.

At the back, Jesus Rueda scored the only goal for Valladolid as they claimed an excellent 1-0 home win over Villarreal, Gerard Pique was on target once more for Barcelona in an easy win over Malaga and Hugo Mallo was key as Celta edged a six-goal thriller at home to Betis.

Arda Turan was on target twice for Atletico Madrid and is joined in midfield by January signing Jose Sosa, Ander Herrera got two assists as Athletic thrashed Osasuna 5-1 in Pamplona and Fabian Orellano got two first-half strikes in Celta’s rout of Betis.

The first member of the attacking  triumvirate is Antoine Griezmann, who scored a double in Real Sociedad’s 4-0 win over Elche. Another two-goal hero was Athletic’s Aritz Aduriz, and Cristiano Ronaldo competes the front three after addding another goal to his extraordinary season.
