Filipe Luis: I don't know if I'm staying at Chelsea

The left-back joined the club in a £15.8 million (€21.7m) deal last summer but struggled to nail down a starting place in 2014-15 and has been linked with a return to Spain

Chelsea defender Filipe Luis admits he is unsure where his future lies amid reported interest from Real Madrid.

The left-back struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge in 2014-15 following his move from Real’s fierce rivals Atletico last summer, making just 15 Premier League appearances as he failed to dislodge first-choice Cesar Azpilicueta from the starting XI.

Reports have suggested that Real approached the 29-year-old with a view to bolstering their defence, but were met with a firm rebuttal.

Luis, though, says that he is unaware where he will spend the 2015-16 season, and claims much depends on the Blues.

“It’s difficult to talk about my future because I do not really know what will happen,” he told reporters after Brazil’s 1-0 win over Honduras.

“I have a contract with Chelsea and I belong to the club, so it’s up to them.”
