PSG sporting director Leonardo is keen to launch an ambitious bid to sign Real Madrid starlet Takefusa Kubo this summer.
The 19-year-old Japanese international moved to Madrid last summer from FC Tokyo, but was immediately sent out on loan to Real Mallorca prior to the 2019/20 season.
AS are reporting that Leonardo has been dazzled by the Japanese’s natural talents and is looking to make a move for the youngster. However, Real Madrid are adamant that Kubo wants to stay with the midfielder also having a buy-out cause of €250m in his contract.
At least 29 other clubs have said to showed interest in Kubo including Ajax, Lazio, Celtic and 10 teams from Spain – including Real Sociedad and Betis. The French giants are firmly in the drivers seat, even though Kubo rejected a €4m salary deal from them last summer.
In the press conference ahead of Real Madrid’s meeting with Mallorca, Zinedine Zidane was asked about Kubo. He said: “I think the season is good, he plays regularly and that is what we were all looking for. He is a very interesting player, present and future. I’m glad for your season. I wish you the best and we will see next year, it will be decided later.”
