Real Madrid Told Asking Price for 17-Year-Old Wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga

Real Madrid will need to fork out €50m if they are to bring 17-year-old Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga to the Bernabeu.

The youngster has enjoyed an eye-catching debut season in Ligue 1, becoming one of the highest-rated teenagers in European football in the process.

In February, it was revealed that Madrid had identified Camavinga as the ?natural successor to Casemiro, and the following month it broke that both Liverpool and Barcelona were also ?chasing the midfielder.

According to Spanish news outlet ?AS, Real boss Zinedine Zidane is a big admirer of Camavinga, and could be forced to choose between him fellow French midfielder Paul Pogba when the transfer window opens.

The AS report states that Rennes have set an asking price of €50m (£44m) for their prized asset. 

?Camavinga has no release clause, meaning interested parties must negotiate a price. However, football finances could look considerably difference once the coronavirus pandemic is over.


?Real are not the only European giant hoping to land the French midfielder. According to AS, other clubs are in more advanced talks with Rennes. This includes Juventus, PSG, and an unnamed Spanish side. 

Borussia Dortmund were also eying up Camavinga, but have pulled out after seeing the asking price soar due to the growing interest.

Camavinga has enjoyed quite the breakthrough season at Rennes this year. Having made his debut at the back end of the 2018/19 campaign aged 16 years and 4 months – becoming the youngest player to ever play for the club – he has gone on to make 33 appearances this season.

The midfielder has been part of the Rennes setup since he was 11, and his manager Julien Stephan has warned him about leaving the club for Europe’s elite at such a young age.

Speaking to AS, Stephan said: “I always give him advice to stay one more season at Rennes because it is his training club.

“I think he has one or two stages left before making the jump for a big one.

“There is a difference between being able to play a high-level season at your training club and being able to play about 60 games per campaign at a giant club every three days.”
