Police suspended Milan’s metro service after finding a ‘suspicious package’ at a train station a few hours before the Champions League final.
Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid fans are out in huge numbers across the city ahead of Saturday’s encounter in San Siro, with police and security forces on high alert.
And the Cadorna station was evacuated for an hour and metro lines one and two were halted as police investigated. However, it turned out to be a false alarm as the package which caused the alarm was found to be harmless.
According to reports in Italy, the alert was raised after a woman was spotted on camera leaving the parcels on the stairs of the metro station.
