Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Real Madrid weathered a late storm to beat Shakhtar Donetsk 4-3 in Ukraine on Wednesday.
The Portuguese forward scored his side’s first and last goals as they breezed into a four-goal lead in Lviv.
In between Ronaldo’s two efforts, Luka Modric and Dani Carvajal were also on target as Madrid edged towards the win that secures top spot in Group A.
Two goals from Alex Teixeira and another from Dentinho had the hosts in the ascendency at the end, but Rafa Benitez’s side just managed to hold on to three points.
