The Barcelona star aimed a dig at Real Madrid when he thanked the singer from the Portuguese star’s birthday bash for helping their treble triumph
Real Madrid full-back Dani Carvajal says he does not consider Gerard Pique’s comments about Cristiano Ronaldo’s birthday party to be insulting.
Pique caused something of a stir when he thanked singer Kevin Roldan for inspiring Barca’s treble triumph as his side paraded their Champions League trophy.
“Thanks to Kevin Roldan, it all started with you,” he said, referring to Ronaldo’s birthday party – at which Roldan performed – which followed Madrid’s 4-0 thrashing by Atletico Madrid in Feburary.
However, Pique’s Spain team-mate Carvajal claims he was not offended by the remarks and congratulated Barca on their achievements.
“I don’t find Pique’s words offensive,” he was quoted as saying by Marca. “I congratulate Barcelona for this season’s results.”
Carvajal’s team-mates Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos and Isco declined to respond when asked for their opinion by reporters at Spain’s training centre close to Madrid.
The European champions are currently preparing for Thursday’s friendly against Costa Rica.
