The former Blancos star is confident Carlo Ancelotti’s men have the quality to overcome their recent blip and return to winning ways
Former Real Madrid striker Raul says the current squad has the quality to bounce back from what has been a disappointing month for the reigning European champions.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men were booed off the field in midweek as they went down 4-3 at home to Schalke in the Champions League, though they progressed 5-4 on aggregate.
That result followed a 1-1 home draw with Villarreal and a 1-0 defeat at Athletic Bilbao as they lost their place at the top of La Liga, sparking talk of a ‘crisis’ at the club, but Raul is confident the quality in the squad will see them back to winning ways.
“The seasons last 10 months. Two months ago Real Madrid had won 22 straight games and everyone spoke about how great they were,” Raul told Grupo Dutriz.
“Now the team has suffered a couple of defeats, which are always painful for a club like Madrid, but both the players and the coaching staff have the quality to get out of this situation.
“I give my full support for Real Madrid now more than ever, fully aware that players are going to give everything they have to improve.”
Raul, 37, won six league titles and three Champions League crowns in his 15 years with Madrid and now plays for the New York Cosmos.
