The Blaugrana boss believes that all of the world’s best players are currently plying their trade for the Clasico duo, while he also insists that he is happy with Gerard Pique
Luis Enrique has made light of Barcelona’s transfer ban, joking that the only way to strengthen what he feels is a near-perfect squad would be to “go shopping at Real Madrid”.
The Blaugrana will be unable to sign anyone in 2015 because of a Fifa-imposed ban related to breaches of regulations related to the movement of players under the age of 18.
However, Luis Enrique is unconcerned, effectively arguing that all of the world’s best players are currently playing for a Clasico club.
“Unless you go shopping at Real Madrid, you can’t get better players [than we have],” the Barca boss told reporters at a press conference on Saturday.
“Right now, it’d be slim pickings if we looked at players from other clubs.”
Meanwhile, Luis Enrique insisted that he is perfectly happy with defender Gerard Pique, whose form and fitness have been the subject of much debate this season.
“Tactically speaking, he’s great at bringing the ball out and is a very complete player,” the former Spain international added.
“I’m pleased with his contribution since the beginning of the season.”
Luis Enrique is currently preparing his players for two big games, with Barca set to face city rivals Espanyol in La Liga before welcoming Paris Saint-Germain to Camp Nou for a Champions League clash that will decide top spot in Group F.
