France striker believes his 21-year-old team-mate will develop into an elite player, while his midfield partner, Blaise Matuidi, was also full of praise after win over Nigeria
Although the 21-year-old has been criticised for periods of inconsistency in recent months, he is viewed as arguably the best young player in Europe, having starred for Juventus and France over the last two years.
The midfielder put in an excellent display for Les Bleus in their World Cup second round meeting with Nigeria, scoring the first goal in their 2-0 victory with just over 10 minutes left.
Benzema feels the youngster has shown that he will continue to grow in stature and become one of the world’s elite players.
“He was criticised? We don’t watch the same games,” the Real Madrid striker said.
“He is a great player. He will be one of the best players in the world.”
Pogba’s midfield partner Blaise Matuidi also leapt to his defence, saying: “He is a young player, you tend to forget. [His goal] was a great responce in the big moments. Congratulations to him.”
