The full-back says there is no link between the 4-0 win over Bayern Munich and Sunday’s draw, adding his team gave everything to beat Los Che
Marcelo insists Real Madrid’s 2-2 draw with Valencia was not a result of them being tired from their midweek Champions League exploits.
Los Blancos scraped a draw against their league rivals in the Santiago Bernabeu thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury time backheel just five days after they beat Bayern Munich 4-0 in the Champions League semi-final.
However, the Brazilian says the draw was not down to fatigue from Tuesday’s game.
“It had nothing to do with being tired from the Champions League,” he said.
“We have given everything but we couldn’t win, but at least we drew.
“We don’t look at the matches of other teams. Now we have to win ours anyway. Today we had to win and we couldn’t.
“The League is a very tough tournament. Everything can change at any time. We had an opportunity to close the gap but we’ve failed.”
