It was a crazy weekend in La Liga as the top three all slipped up to leave the title race no nearer its conclusion with two rounds still left.
Barcelona could only draw at home to Getafe on Saturday, while Atletico lost 2-0 at Levante on Sunday and Real Madrid were held by Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Meanwhile, Athletic Bilbao sealed Champions League qualification with a 3-0 success at Rayo Vallecano on Friday and there were wins too for Elche, Celta Vigo, Valladolid and Almeria. Here, Goal looks at the standout performers from the weekend games.
In goal, Sergio stepped up to the first team for Celta and produced a number of fine saves in the Galicians’ 2-0 win at Osasuna.
At the back, Mikel San Jose and Aymeric Laporte were exceptional for Athletic in their vital victory at Vallecas, while Ante Rukavina helped Valladolid to a clean sheet and also netted his side’s only goal in the 1-0 win over Espanyol.
Dani Parejo scored and was outstanding for Valencia in their 2-2 draw at the Bernabeu, while Ander Herrera shone for Athletic and Angel Lafita denied Barcelona with two goals at Camp Nou. Elsewhere, Ramon Azeez popped up with the winner for Almeria in a 3-2 success over Andalusian rivals Betis.
In attack, Lionel Messi was on target again with a fine finish in the 2-2 draw with Getafe, Carlos Vela scored for Real Sociedad in their 1-1 tie against Granada and Nolito helped Celta to victory in Pamplona with both goals versus Osasuna.
