The former Champions League winners took to Twitter to voice their views on the Champions League final as part of Heineken’s ‘Share The Sofa’ evening
Real Madrid beat Atletico 4-1 after extra time in Saturday evening’s Champions League final in Lisbon to at last win La Decima after a 12-year wait.
Diego Simeone’s men grabbed the lead through Diego Godin after some poor goalkeeping from Iker Casillas, but Sergio Ramos restored parity deep into injury-time to send the game into extra time.
Gareth Bale then made it 2-1 for the Santiago Bernabeu side before Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo put the match to bed.
Former Madrid striker Fernando Morientes was left breathless at full-time after tweeting throughout the encounter as part of Heineken’s ‘Share The Sofa’ evening, while ex-Atletico attacker Luis Garcia had his say on the game, too.
Goal compiled a list of our favourite tweets from the Spaniards during and after the game, as they talked Sergio Ramos, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Diego Costa and more.
Morientes on Real Madrid
“Real has to stay very calm in the beginning to avoid a counter attack.“
“We need some of Ronaldo’s magic, we haven’t seen him yet.“
“I still have trust. Attacking so much. There must be a goal any minute now.”
“Wait! It was Ramos. Again! So incredibly dangerous in the air.“
“The players that have been brought in late in the game will make the difference here.“
“I told you so. Bale, best player on the field.“
“And that seals it. Marcello finished Atleti’s dream.”
Luis Garcia and Morientes on Atletico Madrid
“This is the way Atletico likes to play. Real is pushing it, we take over when we can.” LG
“Costa is out. Not a surprise. It’s impossible to play with this kind of injury.” FM
“Atleti is very good at playing in a still situation.” FM
“If you have Ramos in front of you it is difficult to create chances. Well done by Villa” FM

“I thought we had it… 🙁 Atletico had it… so close.” LG

Should Atletico have pushed for a second goal rather than sit back and defend? ? @Heineken #ShareTheSofa
Morientes: “Clearly. Now it is very hard. Players are incredibly tired. Anything could happen now.”
Would Bale be your Man of the Match despite his two big misses before? Or would you go for Ramos for his equaliser? @Heineken #ShareTheSofa
