Real Madrid went top of La Liga on Saturday and the Welshman feels that their title rivals will be feeling the heat in their own game
Gareth Bale gave a bullish assessment of Real Madrid’s title charge after their 4-2 victory over Villarreal on Saturday saw them top La Liga ahead of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
The winger scored the opening goal of the game at the Bernabeu as los Blancos continued their unbeaten start to 2014.
Reigning champions Barcelona face a daunting trip to Sevilla on Sunday and the Welshman believes they will be under pressure to produce a good result.
“The most important thing is the victory for the team, but obviously I’m very happy with the goal and putting pressure on our rivals in La Liga,” he is quoted as saying by AS.
“We’re enjoying playing our football and that’s very important.”
Bale opened the scoring for Madrid, before Karim Benzema netted a goals either side of Jese Rodriguez’s strike.
