Ronaldo: Bale is doing amazing

The world’s most expensive player saw injuries blight his early weeks in Spain but he has since shown his star quality with several eye-catching displays

Cristiano Ronaldo believes Real Madrid team-mate Gareth Bale has acclimatised to life at the club and says he is “doing amazing”.

The winger moved to the Santiago Bernabeu in a world record €100 million deal from Tottenham over the summer, but struggled with injury in the early weeks of the season.

Since then the Wales international has produced something like his best form, scoring seven goals in 10 Liga appearances so far this season and Ronaldo is hoping he will play a key role in the club’s quest for honours.

The Portuguese told Marca: “Bale is doing amazing. He started a little bit slow with injuries and small problems. It’s normal because he didn’t do any pre-season.

“Afterwards he’s been under a lot of pressure. It’s hard but I think he’s now in a good way, he’s integrated more in the team. People like him, the supporters and players want him here. I hope he can help us win trophies.”

Ronaldo’s future with los Blancos came under the microscope following the arrival of Bale, but the 28-year-old signed a new five-year-deal in September – a decision the former Manchester United forward is glad he made.

“This is why I signed a new deal. This is my house, my home. I feel unbelievable here. I love the club, I love the people, I love the supporters.

“I don’t know when the end of my career will be, but at this moment I’m so proud and happy to be here.”
