Barca beat Villarreal 2-1 at Camp Nou to move five points clear of Madrid at the top, but Atletico came within a single goal of taking the lead in La Liga as they thrashed Valencia 3-0 on Sunday.
There were also wins for Levante, Granada, Malaga, Real Sociedad and Valladolid at the weekend. Here, Goal takes a look at the standout performers from the latest action in La Liga.
In goal, Roberto Fernandez was key as Granada weathered the storm to claim all three points at Rayo Vallecano in a 2-0 success, making several fine saves to deny the home side.
Pepe helped Real Madrid cope following the dismissal of Sergio Ramos and was instrumental in the Blancos‘ comeback from 2-0 down as he netted a late leveller in Pamplona. Elsewhere, Antunes was key in a solid Malaga back line and also impressed going forward, while Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno shone in their 1-1 draw at home to Athletic Bilbao, in which he scored the first goal after just three minutes.
Real Sociedad duo Antoine Griezmann and Ruben Pardo feature in midfield following their impressive performances in the 5-1 win over Betis, while Madrid’s Isco is in after starting the comeback with a fine goal at Osasuna and assisting the second for Pepe. Granada’s Fran Rico scored and was excellent for the Andalusians at Vallecas and is also included.
In attack, Diego Costa makes the selection once again after scoring two more. The Brazil-born striker also won two penalties and missed one of them, but was at his brilliant best for Diego Simeone’s side. Real Sociedad’s Imanol Agirretxe also scored twice for the Basque side against Betis, while Javi Guerra hit a hat-trick for Valladolid in their 3-0 win at home to Celta Vigo and looks the real deal.
