The Portuguese stole the show for Real Madrid with two goals at San Mames, while the Colombian starred for Atletico and the Barcelona winger hit a double against Zaragoza
There was little change at the top in the Primera Division at the weekend as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico all cruised to convincing victories in La Liga, while Real Sociedad held onto fourth place with a hard-fought win at Rayo Vallecano. Here, Goal.com takes a look at the standout performers from the latest round of Liga action.
In goal, Andres Fernandez made a string of excellent saves for Osasuna at Malaga, but could do nothing to stop Julio Baptista’s winner for the Andalusians.
Alberto de la Bella was a rock at the back for Real Sociedad as the Basques secured a vital victory at Rayo Vallecano, while Filipe Luis was on form in both defence and attack as Atletico thrashed Granada 5-0 at the Vicente Calderon and Martin Demichelis was back to his best against Osasuna after his side’s unfortunate collapse at Borussia Dortmund in midweek.
Koke turned into another impressive performance for Atletico, while Ivan Rakitic scored twice in Sevilla’s thrilling 3-3 draw with city rivals Betis and Ever Banega provided two assists in Valencia’s 3-3 tie at Espanyol. Thiago Alcantara, with one goal and two assists for Barcelona at Zaragoza, completes the midfield.
Cristian Tello also impressed for the Catalans, scoring twice at La Romareda, while Radamel Falcao struck a double for Atletico in their 5-0 win over Granada and Cristiano Ronaldo was at his brilliant best for Real Madrid with two goals against Athletic Bilbao at San Mames, the first a free kick after just over a minute and the second a brilliant second-half header. The Portuguese also set up the third for Gonzalo Higuain.
