Pardeza: Real Madrid will not give up on La Liga

Miguel Pardeza is adamant that it is not in Real Madrid’s character to surrender the league title to Barcelona, despite falling to their third defeat of the season.

The current La Liga champions find themselves eight points adrift of the Blaugrana, who play Levante on Sunday, after Jose Mourinho’s side succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Betis on Saturday night.

Madrid’s director of football Pardeza has assured the fans that Los Blancos will come back at Tito Vilanova’s side before the season is over.

“There are still a lot of games to come, including one against Barcelona, and it is our duty and responsibility to continue fighting,” he told AS.

“We will not give up because that is not part of our character or history.”

Speaking about the 1-0 loss to Betis, Pardeza added: “It was a very demanding game, and we didn’t have much luck shown by the perfectly legal goal we had ruled out.

“Had that goal been allowed, I am sure that it would have changed the fate of the match.”

He went on to bemoan his side’s fixture list saying: “It didn’t help having to play in the Champions League during the week either.”

Jose Mourinho’s side could find themselves 11 points behind Barcelona should Tito Vilanova’s men secure three points against high-flying Levante on Sunday evening.
