Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has hailed Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta as one of the best players in the world.
The pair played starring roles in Vicente Del Bosque’s Euro 2012 winning side and the 26-year-old has been able to observe his national team-mate at close quarters.
“The Uefa award was presented to him because over the years he has proved to be one of the best in the World,” Ramos told Spanish television.
The Barcelona midfielder was named the best player in Europe by Uefa during the Champions League group stage draw, pipping team-mate Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to the award.
Ramos also spoke of the rumours surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s unhappiness at the club, and offered his words of support.
“I do not think that the problem with Cristiano Ronaldo is serious, we hope not,” he added.
“In good and in bad times, however, he knows he can count on me.”
