Bayern Munich Star Robert Lewandowski Will ‘Try Everything’ to Move to Real Madrid Next Summer

We are merely two weeks into September, and yet next year’s transfer sagas are already bubbling under the surface. The latest focus of the rumour mill is Bayern Munich star, Robert Lewandowski.

The Polish striker is regarded as one of the best in world football and, according to Sky Sports expert Guillem Balague, is keen to leave Germany and join the European champions in the next 12 months.

When asked about Lewandowski’s links to Real Madrid in his weekly Sky Sports online column, Balague said: ‘He [Lewandowski] will try everything he can to make the move to Real Madrid next summer. It doesn’t mean he will move but he has told his agent that’s where he wants to go next.’

He knows at his age (29) it will be difficult but Ruud van Nistelrooy was a similar age when he arrived at Real and he made a big impact. The only thing is Lewandowski will cost around €80m (£70m) and that makes it difficult at the moment.’

FC Bayern Muenchen v 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Bundesliga

The 29-year-old has started the season in emphatic style, scoring five goals in four league games as well as notching against Anderlecht in Bayern’s Champions League opener last week.

The summer was filled with rumours of Lewandowski’s unhappiness at the Allianz Arena, as he ended the season on a negative note, losing the Golden Boot to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. His agent even confirmed in June that he was ‘disappointed like never before’.

The striker has also been ?linked with Manchester City, and a reunion with Pep Guardiola, yet Balague claims that he only has eyes for the Santiago Bernabeu and Real Madrid.

Aspiring Real Madrid Captain Dani Carvajal Signs New Contract With Staggering Buy-Out Clause

?Real Madrid full-back Dani Carvajal has claimed his new Real Madrid contract contains a release-clause high enough that he is unlikely ever to leave the Bernabeu, as reported by ?FourFourTwo.

The 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year extension which reportedly includes a buy-out clause of over €350m.

Prior the recent hyperinflation of transfer fees, La Liga contracts were required to include release clauses that could ensure that players could not be held against their will if they were interested in joining another club.

However, with near unlimited funds at their disposal, the likes of Paris Saint-Germain were able to capitalise on Neymar’s €222m release clause (a figure that sounded unmatchable when he signed in 2013) and snatch the Brazilian from Barcelona’s grasp.

Dani Carvajal’s new contract should be large enough to ensure Carvajal could never been sold, and the Spaniard is delighted to commit his future to Los Meringues.

Real Madrid v Manchester United: UEFA Super Cup

Speaking to the press after the deal was finalised he said; “This club is such a big part of my life so this is fulfilling a dream for me, I’m very grateful to the club.

“It is another great day in my life, to extend my contract with the club I love, the club that is my family. I want to win everything here.

“The release clause is also so high so that nobody can take me away from here and I don’t want to leave.”

Los Blancos’ youth product has often been tipped as a potential future club captain and the former Bayer Leverkusen defender voiced his pride at being linked with the captaincy.

He said “I would be lying if I said to you that I have never imagined myself as the captain here.

” data-viewability-attr=”//″ style=””>

“But if that comes, it will be a long time into the future. Our captain is Sergio Ramos and he does it wonderfully. Some day, I would like to do it, though.”

6 Things You May Have Missed From European Football This Week as the Top Teams All Pick Up Wins

Europe’s top teams all managed to secure wins this weekend, with some scorelines more impressive than others.

But, that being said, there were still plenty of points of interest throughout Europe’s top leagues, ranging from arguments between teammates all the way through to the magic of Paulo Dybala.

Here are our top six picks from an entertaining weekend of European football…

1. Neymar and Cavani Squabble Over Set-Pieces – Again

Neymar said after his move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain in the summer that he had not joined the club in order to become the star man. However, judging by his antics at the weekend, that is clearly a fib.

Not only did Neymar want Edinson Cavani to give up his penalty duties during the 2-0 win over Lyon, Dani Alves also stepped in to nick the ball away from the Uruguayan and hand it to his former Barcelona teammate for a free-kick.

While the trio of Neymar, Cavani and Kylian Mbappe is shaping up to be an incredibly threatening one, there is obviously a bit of tension between the club’s top players.

2. Paulo Dybala Nets Hat-Trick in Juventus’ 3-1 Win Over Sassuolo

While previously many have waxed lyrical over the talents of Juventus’ most promising attacker, this could be the season that Paulo Dybala runs riot in front of goal.

The Argentina international scored an incredible hat-trick against Sassuolo on Sunday, netting a 25-yarder, a Samba-like strike and an exquisite free-kick as Juventus ran out as 3-1 winners.

Dybala now has eight goals in just four Serie A matches, an incredible record bettered only in Europe by Monaco forward Radamel Falcao, who has a ridiculous nine Ligue 1 strikes already this season.

3. Bayern Munich Bounce Back With Comfortable Mainz Victory

FC Bayern Muenchen v 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Bundesliga

Carlo Ancelotti came in for plenty of criticism last week after seeing his Bayern Munich side lose to an impressive Hoffenheim, but calm was restored at the weekend as the Bundesliga giants triumphed over Mainz.

Thomas Muller was given a rare start and paid back his manager’s faith with a goal, while right-back Joshua Kimmich was the star man, claiming three assists.

Arjen Robben scored Bayern’s second of the afternoon before striker Robert Lewandowski netted a second half double to wrap up the points.

4. Real Madrid Triumph Without Benzema or Ronaldo

Saturday’s trip to Real Sociedad was a real test for Real Madrid, who were missing two of their star attackers but still managed to grab an all-important three points.

With Karim Benzema out injured and Cristiano Ronaldo suspended, Gareth Bale was tasked with leading an inexperienced forward line and delivered superbly, scoring a brilliant goal as Los Blancos secured a 3-1 win away from home.

Borja Mayoral opened the scored for Zinedine Zidane’s side before Sociedad’s Kevin  Rodrigues managed both an equaliser and an own goal, with Bale netting the third in the second half.

5. Barcelona Labour to Win Over Getafe

Getafe v Barcelona - La Liga

Those expecting free-flowing football from Barcelona after their 3-0 Champions League win over Juventus in midweek were left disappointed as Ernesto Valverde’s side struggled for large periods against Getafe.

The La Liga minnows took the lead through Gaku Shibasaki in the first half but were pegged back in the second period by Denis Suarez, with the former Manchester City youngster equalising just after the hour mark.

New signing Paulinho made himself a fan favourite seven minutes after his introduction as a substitute, scoring the winner to ensure Barcelona continued their perfect start to the La Liga season.

6. Atletico Madrid Move Into Their New Stadium

Atletico Madrid v Malaga - La Liga

Atletico Madrid moved into the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday and boy, it is one incredible stadium.

After playing their last season at the Vicente Calderon Stadium, Atletico fans were treated to 12 hours of celebrations before their evening fixture against Malaga, which proved to be a little underwhelming.

The 63,000 fans packed into the ground saw Antoine Griezmann score the winner in the 61st minute as Diego Simeone’s side finished the weekend fifth in La Liga, with two victories and two draws so far this term.

Real Sociedad 1-3 Real Madrid: Bale Back to His Best as Los Blancos Cruise to Victory

Real Sociedad’s 100% La Liga record came to an end on Sunday evening as visitors Real Madrid proved too much for the Blues and Whites, securing a 3-1 win at the Anoeta Stadium – the third time in a row the Spanish capital side had put three past their opponents in the league

A well-taken first senior goal from shock starter Borja Mayoral, who came into replace the missing Karim Benzema, opened the proceedings after a slow start from both sides, only for the visitors to be pegged back shortly after following Keylor Navas’ goalkeeping error, which allowed Kevin Rodrigues’ volley to sneak under the Costa Rican.

However, Los Blancos’ lead was quickly restored as the momentary Sociedad hero turned Mayoral’s cross into his own net after covering 100 yards in retreat following the left-back witnessing his effort ricochet off the crossbar seconds earlier.

The evening was then rounded off by Gareth Bale, who showed the levels of class which have been absent so far this term by expertly converting a lighting quick counter attack with a world-class chipped finish to secure all three points for Madrid in San Sebastian.

Real Sociedad v Real Madrid - La Liga

The opening quarter was certainly one for the footballing purist, with both sides possibly showing one another too much respect and neither willing to step away from their rigid game plans.

It looked as though it would take either a bit of magic or a bit of luck in order for the deadlock to be broken, and just after the quarter-hour mark the visitors got both.

Unlikely-starter, Mayoral, found himself in very much the right place at the right time after an incredible piece of individual skill from Sergio Ramos, who was able to both control the cross he received inside the area and advance with his back to goal without letting the ball hit the floor.

The Spaniard was then seemingly wrestled to the ground, in a challenge that certainly would have been penalised, only for the ball to fall nicely into the path of the on-running 20-year-old who dispatched his effort first time from six-yards out past the spread Geronimo Rulli to give Madrid the lead.

However, the La Liga title holders’ advantage lasted just 10 minutes, after goalkeeper Navas’ blunder allowed Rodrigues’ volley to sneak into the far corner for the equaliser.

The Sociedad left-back had advanced unmarked as play spread down the right-hand side before ghosting into the visitors’ 18-yard box and meeting a deep cross into the Los Blancos area with a venomous volley

Real Sociedad v Real Madrid - La Liga

But Madrid’s lead was restored just after the half-hour mark, after Zinedine Zidane’s side fortunately took advantage of a blistering counter attack, which started with Rodrigues once again getting on the end of another deep ball.

The defender almost produced a carbon copy of his first goal, however this time his effort ricocheted away from the crossbar allowing Los Blancos the opportunity to break.

The ball eventually found the feet of the advanced Mayoral, with Ascensio in support, but the youngster decided not to use him and instead rounded his man before taking his shot.

The effort, which was heading well wide, deflected off the outstretched leg of the retreating Rodrigues, who had covered the entire length of the pitch in order to provide support, and into the back of the net past the wrong-footed custodian, Rulli.

As the tie headed towards the break Madrid continued to create chances on the counter attack, and could have extended their lead even further through Ascensio and Casemiro if it were not for the heroics of the host’s shot-stopper.

However, the Whites and Blues managed to hold out, and that resilience lasted until the hour mark when Bale answered his critics with a typical Bale-esque goal.

Real Sociedad v Real Madrid - La Liga

The hgihtly-decorated Wales international managed to latch onto a long ball over the top down the right-hand side before showing the unrivalled strength and pace which had been missing from the 28-year-old’s performances so far this season.

The former world’s most expensive player drove into the Sociedad area, keeping the hosts’ defensive efforts at bay in the process, before cutely lifting his effort over the top of the advancing Rulli and giving his side a more comfortable two-goal lead.

As the clash ticked on Madrid enforced their dominance, with substitute Lucas Vasquez and Bale both coming close to further extending Los Blancos’ lead.

However, it wasn’t to be and Zidane’s side left he Anoeta Stadium after another improved display, a result which closes the gap to league leaders Barcelona to four points after the opening four fixtures.

Real Madrid Star Insists He’s Going Nowhere So Long as He Keeps Starting for the Club

?Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has declared that he intends to stay at the club so long as he keeps being selected to start.

The Frenchman has been at the Bernabeu for nine years now, and has enjoyed tremendous success with the Spanish giants since his €35m move from Lyon.

He has made 371 appearances across all competitions since joining, scoring 181 goals and has been considered through that time as one of the world’s top strikers.

He seems to have been given the nod to start games season after season, and despite him approaching 30, he is still the main central striker for the club under compatriot Zinedine Zidane, and he is happy to remain if he keeps being selected.

He said, as quoted by ?AS: “It’s the best club in the world. It’s a pleasure and I’m very proud. The expectations are always high and you start every season with zero and you have to work your way up to the maximum level.”

“Playing in another team or retiring here? If I am in the starting line-up then there is no need for me to go anywhere else.”

” data-viewability-attr=”//″ style=”” contenteditable=”false”>

Such has been the player’s consistency and happiness over the years, he hasn’t really ever been linked with a move away from the club, with the exception of a loose interest from Arsenal here and there, and it could well be that he sees out his career in Spain.
