Dortmund Director Reveals Talks Over Permanent Achraf Hakimi Move Will Begin in Next Few Weeks

?Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has revealed the club are ready to open talks with Real Madrid regarding the permanent signing of Achraf Hakimi.

Since arriving at Dortmund in July 2018 on a two year loan deal, the Morocco international has proved to be a big success, featuring in all of their 20 Bundesliga games this season.

Zorc has now confirmed the club wish to make the 21-year-old’s loan move a permanent one, though he admitted Real hold most of the cards in the negotiations.

“We will have talks with ?Real Madrid in the next few weeks,” he told Sport Bild, as quoted by ?Goal. “The decision is not up to us, but Achraf’s great development has, of course, not been hidden from anyone in Spain either. He feels very comfortable with us. They [Real Madrid] know that we would like to keep him.”

Hakimi played the full 90 minutes on Tuesday night as ?Dortmund were dumped out of the DFB-Pokal at the hands of Werder Bremen.

The Moroccan has proved an integral part of a Dortmund side looking to be crowned Bundesliga champions for the first time since 2012. Bayern Munich currently lead the way in the German title race, although RB Leipzig and Dortmund are hot on their heels, just one and three points behind them respectively.

Hakimi was brought through the Real Madrid youth system but found first team opportunities hard to come by at the Bernabeu.

Since making his debut for Dortmund, the right-back has made 58 appearances, contributing nine goals and 13 assists. Hakimi has also been capped 28 times by his country, scoring two goals.

Should he return to the Bernabeu, he would likely challenge Dani Carvajal for the right back spot, with both Ferland Mendy and Marcelo currently vying for the left back position.
