The centre-back says his team-mate remains content at the club and also praised new signing Lucas Silva
Real Madrid defender Pepe has insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo is as happy as ever irrespective of his lack of goals in recent weeks.
The forward ended a three-game goalless streak in his side’s 2-0 Champions League round-of-16 win over Schalke at the Veltins Arena on Wednesday and Pepe was delighted to see the 30-year-old add to his tally again.
“Cristiano is like he is always, happy and encouraging his team-mates,” Pepe told the official Madrid website.
“That is what we want from him, for him to transmit that happiness within the dressing room.
“I’m content with his continuous work to help out his team-mates. We are delighted for him that he has scored again.
“He knows he is playing for Real Madrid and is aware of the pressure that entails, but we are by his side.”
Pepe also had words of encouragement for new arrival Lucas Silva in the wake of his performance in the first-leg win over Schalke.
“Lucas Silva has really surprised me, he has a lot of quality.
“He has come to help us but we have to show patience because we know that this is Real Madrid.
“He will be talked about a lot in the future because he is a very humble guy, he has his feet on the ground and he likes to work.”
