The attacking midfielder has little doubt Saturday’s encounter will be a tense one and is keen to make amends for their disappointing recent results against Atletico
Real Madrid midfielder Isco expects a fiercely fought battle when his side take on rivals Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon on Saturday.
The capital sides have already met five times before this season, with Atletico emerging victorious three times and drawing the other two.
Isco is determined to end Atletico’s hot streak, though, and has set his sights on the full three points this time around.
“Everything about the derby makes is special, the buzz it generates weeks in advance, the rivalry between the two teams,” Isco told Mahou.
“We’ve been crossing paths a lot lately and it always has that special edge. There is no need to lose face at any moment. It will be a fiercely fought battle from the kick-off.
“We will try to do what we always do and hopefully we’ll be able to come out with a good result. There are no favourites for a match at this level. We’re both very good teams and we’re in good form. We’ll see what happens.
“Previous games don’t play a role. Each game is different and this time it’s in La Liga, where we both have a lot to play for. We hope to beat Atletico this time round.”
Real Madrid currently sit atop La Liga, holding a seven-point lead over third-placed Atletico.
