Khedira to return to Madrid training

The Germany international has been given permission to return to training next week after a three week spell on the sidelines with a muscle injury

Real Madrid have received a boost with news that Sami Khedira has been cleared to return to training next week.

The Germany international has been out of action since picking up a muscle injury against Atletico Madrid 19 days ago, forcing him out of Madrid’s Liga clashes with Deportivo and Elche, and their Champions League first-leg tie with Schalke.

“Finally! The doctors have cleared me for team practice next week,” he said via social media.

The 27-year-old has already missed 18 Madrid matches this season and has been heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer.

His contract is set to expire in June, meaning he is now free to talk to any potential suitors ahead of what would be a free transfer for the World Cup-winner.

Khedira has expressed a desire to sign a new deal with Real Madrid but Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are all reported to be interested in his services.
