The American actor was offended by Carlo Ancelotti’s assertion that the Portuguese superstar will score against the Argentine outfit
Movie star Viggo Mortensen has called on his beloved San Lorenzo to upset Cristiano Ronaldo’s hairdo in Saturday’s Fifa World Club Cup final clash with Real Madrid.
Ronaldo fired Madrid to Champions League glory last season and has maintained his fantastic form this term, netting 32 times in 24 outings in all competitions.
The Portugal international failed to score in Tuesday’s Club World Cup semi-final win over Cruz Azul but coach Carlo Ancelotti stated that the Ballon d’Or holder was simply saving a goal for the tournament decider in Marrakech.
As a proud San Lorenzo fan, Mortensen was offended by the Italian’s assertion and countered by claiming that if the underdogs can unsettle Ronaldo, the 29-year-old will flop on the big stage.
“We shouldn’t let Ancleotti and the Real Madrid press provoke us,” the American actor is quoted as saying by MARCA.
“This highly respected Italian manager has been a little arrogant by saying that the reason Ronaldo didn’t score against Cruz Azul is that ‘he is saving a goal for the final’.
“The only reaction that such a comment deserves is to try to upset the Portuguese goalscorer in the final.
“If they mark the Real No.7 well, maybe upset his hairdo a little in the first 15 minutes of the game, it will be enough for him to have one of his frequent poor performances in the big games.”
