Ancelotti: Ronaldo is at his peak

The Real Madrid coach says having the record breaking forward in his team is a “great advantage” and voiced his concern over James Rodriguez’s injury

Carlo Ancelotti has said Cristiano Ronaldo is at his physical peak, after the Real Madrid attacker scored his 200th league goal.

The club talisman scored all three goals for his side as they beat Celta 3-0 on Saturday to reach the milestone after 178 appearances, simultaneously breaking the record for most hat-tricks in the Spanish top flight with his 23rd treble.

And Ancelotti has heaped praise upon his star player, saying that having him in the team gives Madrid a huge boost

“Having him in the team is a great advantage,” he told reporters. “He is doing very well at that moment, he is extraordinarily motivated and physically he is at his peak.”

The Italian coach has also expressed his concern over James Rodriguez, who was substituted early in the second half, revealing that the Colombian picked up an injury.

“James has had a calf injury. We will evaluate it in the coming days. Obviously we are not happy with his injury, but we will have Isco and [Sami] Khedira back.

“These injuries, along with Modric’s, are problems that come from time to time with all of these games, but we can replace them well.”
