Carvajal: Any team would love Diego Costa

The Real Madrid full-back is delighted to have the Chelsea star as his international team-mate and wants a fast start against Macedonia on Monday

Spain full-back Dani Carvajal believes that any team in the world would love to have Diego Costa in their ranks.

The Brazil-born striker switched his allegiance to the European champions earlier this year and represented his adopted nation in his homeland at the World Cup.

He is yet to find the net for Vicente del Bosque’s side and will miss the start of their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign due to injury but Carvajal is delighted to have him as a team-mate nonetheless.

“He plays with his back to you and enriches the side,” Carvajal told Sefutbol.

“Any team would like to have him. He probably does not like being sidelined, but he will recover soon.”

Spain lost a friendly clash with France earlier this week but Carvajal is targeting a quick start to their European Championship qualification campaign against Macedonia on Monday.

“They’ll be closed up at the back so we need to get out there and try to score soon so we can take control of the game.”
