Navas: It will not be easy to become Madrid No.1

The highly-rated shot stopper realises it will not be easy to make his mark at the Santiago Bernabeu, but has vowed to do his utmost

Costa Rica international Keylor Navas has acknowledged he faces a tough task to beat Diego Lopez and Iker Casillas to the No.1 spot at Real Madrid.

The 27-year-old signed a six-year deal with the Santiago Bernabeu side on Sunday to complete his move from Levante and he has stressed that he will give his all to make an immediate impact at his new club.

“It will be complicated to become No.1 at Madrid. I will have to work hard and show humility,” the Costa Rica international told reporters.

“I will try to do things in the best way possible and we will see how things pan out.

“It’s great to have signed for Madrid. I will learn a lot from all the players here. Playing for Madrid is a great experience and I will take advantage of it right from the start.

“I want to improve as a person and a player. We have a great team and are very united. I hope to adapt well and play my part.”

Carlo Ancelotti stated at the weekend that Iker Casillas will be Madrid’s No.1 in the European Supercup clash with Sevilla.
