Jese targets double figures

The Spain Under-21 international has been in sublime form in recent weeks and is hopeful he can add to his tally in the weeks to come

Real Madrid youngster Jese Rodriguez is confident that he can achieve his objective of scoring at least 10 goals this season.

The 20-year-old netted once in the 3-0 first-leg win over Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey semi-final on Wednesday to put los Blancos in cruise control of the tie.

That strike took his tally for the 2013-14 campaign to six goals in all competitions and Jese is hopeful he can keep up his fine form in the remainder of the season.

“The one against Atletico was a beautiful goal,” he told the official Madrid website.

“I can see that it might be possible to achieve my 10-goal objective and if I end up scoring even more, that would be even better.

“I’ve been lucky so far to score against great teams in great grounds.”

The Spain Under-21 international then went on to thank head coach Carlo Ancelotti for the faith shown in him this term.

“I’m thrilled about the opportunities and I hope they continue. This victory is going to give us confidence for the upcoming matches.”
