Iniesta: Barcelona not out to settle a score with Real Madrid

A Cristiano Ronaldo header decided the previous Copa del Rey final between the sides in 2011 but the Spain midfielder will not be looking for revenge this time out

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta says his side will not be looking for revenge when they face Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final.

The two clubs met in the showpiece of the competition three years ago, when Cristiano Ronaldo’s late goal sealed a 1-0 triumph for Jose Mourinho’s side.

They will once again meet at Mestalla in mid-April after Barca overcame Real Sociedad and Madrid breezed past city rivals Atletico, but Iniesta says there are no old grudges to settle with the capital club.

“The feelings are good. When a team play well, everything works better. This is our challenge, for things to turn out well,” he told the club’s official site.

“I wouldn’t say that there are accounts to settle with Real Madrid, but it’s a good chance to win another title.”

Meanwhile, Sergio Busquets says he feels privileged to have had the chance to play in so many Copa finals over the course of his career, having lifted the trophy in 2009 and 2012.

“It’s hard to get to a final, we’re lucky that we’ve been able to play in so many in recent years, but it’s not easy and I’m very happy that we’re going to play in one again,” he added.

“The final will be a very good match for any player or fan. It’s two months away and now we have to focus on La Liga and the Champions League.”
