The goalkeeper was full of praise for the home support, who produced a deafening atmosphere at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday night
Iker Casillas says Real Madrid “owe” the club’s supporters following their Champions League semi-final exit to Borussia Dortmund.
A 2-0 win on Tuesday night wasn’t enough to overturn a 4-1 first-leg defeat, but the Santiago Bernabeu faithful made themselves heard all night and the club captain thanked the fans for their efforts.
“Thanks for everything. Thank you for being there cheering, without you, the atmosphere would not have been the same! Thanks fans,” the goalkeeper said on his personal Facebook page.
“We owe you. Now we have to think about the Copa del Rey final.”
Diego Lopez was preferred in goal on the night, with Casillas forced to watch from the bench and he faces a fight to win his place back before Madrid take on city rivals Atletico in the Copa del Rey final on May 17.
The capital club have just five Liga games remaining, but their leage campaign is effectively over with leaders Barcelona 11 points clear at the top of the division.
