The Brazil international paid tribute to his coach as he prepares to bid farewell to the Spanish giants and has welcomed Neymar to Europe
Marcelo believes that Jose Mourinho has taken Real Madrid forward, despite some suggestions that he has been a failure at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The former Inter boss will leave Spanish football in the coming weeks after three years with the capital club, and the Brazilian says he can do so with his head held high.
“We have not yet said goodbye to Mourinho in the locker room, but he is a great coach who has helped Real Madrid a lot,” he told Canal+.
“I wish him all the happiness in the world. We’ll see who his replacement is and we’ll see what happens next season.”
Neymar’s long-awaited move to Barcelona was confirmed on Sunday and Marcelo went on to welcome his fellow Selecao star to Spain.
“I’m happy for him because he’s going forward in his career. I wish him all the best,” he added.
Goalkeeper Diego Lopez starred in los Blancos’ 3-3 draw away to Real Sociedad on Sunday and the 31-year-old has thoroughly enjoyed his time in the first team.
“In Madrid it is hard to be sad. I always try to do my best. I said at the time that every minute in Real Madrid is gold and that’s what I want to do, take every opportunity you have to play,” he told the club’s official website.
Real Madrid conclude their Liga campaign by hosting Osasuna on June 1.
