The Barcelona midfielder has voiced his surprise with the Spain captain’s shift in status as Santiago Bernabeu having lost his place in the first team to Diego Lopez
Andres Iniesta has revealed he finds it hard to understand the situation of his Spain team-mate Iker Casillas at Real Madrid.
The experienced goalkeeper lost his spot in the starting XI to Diego Lopez after suffering a hand injury in January, and coach Jose Mourinho claimed at the end of last week that he we would have liked to have signed the former Sevilla shot-stopper sooner, much to the surprise of Iniesta.
“It is hard to understand his situation from the outside, especially bearing in mind what he represents and has done for Madrid,” the Barcelona midfielder told Onda Cero.
“It is a very difficult situation for him. Not just because he is not playing, but also because of everything else.
“I am not referring to his sporting situation, but to everything outside of the pitch that you hear about.”
Casillas has not featured for Madrid since their 1-1 draw against Valencia in January.
