Portugal do not expect fireworks from Cristiano Ronaldo, says Bento

Portugal coach Paulo Bento does not believe anything spectacular should be expected from Cristiano Ronaldo against Northern Ireland just because the winger will make his 100th international appearance.

Since making his Seleccao bow in 2003, the 27-year-old is now only one cap away from reaching a century, but his boss is refusing to anticipate anything out of the ordinary from the attacker on Tuesday.

“We all know Cristiano had an injury coming to us but he is fit to play,” Bento said at a press conference ahead of the World Cup 2014 qualifier, which kicks off at 21:45CET in Porto.

“I do not expect anything different from him because of the fact he is getting his 100th cap. I know that is a figure very few players will reach but I don’t foresee anything special because of that reason.

“What I expect from him is to integrate into the structure we have got and to show all of his ability and quality in the match.”
